Setting up/ending phone call, function - GF82.70-P-2008GA

IMPORTANT Depending on the equipment installed one of the following control units will be installed, hereafter referred to as the "audio unit":

Function requirements 

IMPORTANT So that a bluetooth-capable mobile phone that is authorized on the audio equipment can be operated in the vehicle, the mobile phone must support the hands-free profile (HFP) 1.0 or 1.5. More information under:

IMPORTANT The entries in either of the two "books" below are always available; they can only be removed by deleting:

IMPORTANT With basic telephony, without code (EH2) Comfort telephony, it is possible to gain read access to the telephone book of the mobile phone if the mobile phone supports the Bluetooth profile Phonebook Access Profile (PBAP). Otherwise, the entries in the mobile phone's phone book can only be transmitted to the audio equipment via "vCards".

Placing/ending phone call, general 

The mobile phone can be used by the user to initiate or terminate a telephone call to another person in the mobile phone system network or the fixed-line network.

The "Establish call and terminate telephone call" function comprises of the following subfunctions:

The system is described using comfort telephony as an example, with code (EH2) Comfort telephony. Differences from the basic telephony are marked by the symbol IMPORTANT .

Operating instructions 

A phone call is established and ended via:

Establish call function sequence using mobile phone buttons 

The telephone number is selected via the buttons on the mobile phone or from the mobile phone's phone book. The "Accept phone call" button is pressed. The telephone call is then established in handsfree mode.

The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally in the mobile phone.

Establish call function sequence by using the telephone keys or the keypad on the audio equipment 

After dialing the telephone number by using the telephone buttons on the audio equipment and pressing the "Accept phone call" button or selecting the telephone function by using the keypad on the audio equipment and then activating the "SEND" function, the telephone call is established in hands-free mode.

The "Telephone (Tel)" base function is activated via the "Tel" hardkey on the audio equipment or the "Tel" menu item in the application bar via the keypad on the audio equipment and shown in the display of the audio equipment.

The following ways of dialing a telephone number are available to the user:

The name of the person to be called can be selected in the telephone book or address book and in the call lists by scrolling up and down.

The control signals of the telephone keys or the keypad on the audio unit are processed internally. The display of the menu item on the display of the audio equipment also takes place internally.

Function sequence, establish call using multifunction steering wheel button groups 

The telephone book or the address book is selected by pressing the system selection (S110s3) button via the selection menu in the instrument cluster. The name of the person to be called is selected by scrolling up and down in the telephone book or the address book using the scroll up and down button (S110s1). The accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) can be used to establish the telephone call in the hands-free system.

The control signals of the multifunction steering wheel button groups are forwarded to the audio equipment via the following components:

Communication between the "audio unit" and the mobile phone is conducted via:

The display in the instrument cluster is conducted by the "audio unit" via interior CAN.

IMPORTANT Communication with the basic telephony takes place between the "audio unit" and the mobile phone in the following way:

Function sequence, establish call via VCS [SBS] (with code (EU1) COMAND, APS) 

The voice control is activated by pressing the VCS [SBS] switch. The control signal from the VCS [SBS] switch is forwarded to the audio equipment via the following components:

A signal tone is emitted after the voice control system has been activated.

In vehicles with code (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/ kardon Logic 7), the signal tone is transmitted by the audio equipment to the sound system amplifier via MOST. From there, the signal tone is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT In vehicles without code (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/kardon Logic 7), the signal tone is transmitted directly from the audio equipment via direct lines to the following speakers:

Establishing a call is activated in the dialog with the VCS [SBS] with the help of voice commands, e.g.:

The voice commands are registered by the hands-free system microphone group and forwarded via a direct line to the audio equipment.

The voice control of the voice control system (VCS [SBS]) is used to establish the telephone call in the hands-free mode.

Function sequence, establish call for phone call in hands-free mode 

When the call has been established successfully, the "audio unit" transmits or receives the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

The voice input in hands-free mode is registered by the hands-free system microphone group and forwarded via a direct line to the audio equipment.

In vehicles with code (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/ kardon Logic 7), the voice output is transmitted by the audio equipment to the sound system amplifier via MOST. From there, the voice output is transmitted via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT In vehicles without code (EU9) Surround sound system (harman/kardon Logic 7), the voice output is transmitted directly from the audio equipment via direct lines to the following speakers:

IMPORTANT When in "private mode" the user can make a telephone call without other vehicle occupants being able to hear the conversation. The system switches to "private mode", when the mobile phone is removed from the cradle.

IMPORTANT For basic telephony, the "audio unit" receives or transmits the mobile phone signals or data in the following way:

Terminate call function sequence using mobile phone buttons 

Pressing the "QUIT" button on the mobile phone terminates the telephone call. The control signals from the buttons on the mobile phone are processed internally.

Terminate call function sequence over telephone buttons or keypad on audio equipment 

The telephone call is terminated by pressing the "END" button on the audio equipment or by activating the "END" function in the "Telephone (Tel)" base function. The control signals of the telephone keys or the keypad on the audio unit are processed internally.

Function sequence, terminate call using multifunction steering wheel button groups 

The accept/terminate phone call button terminates the telephone call. The control signals of the multifunction steering wheel button groups are forwarded to the audio equipment via the following components:

Function sequence, terminate phone call in handsfree mode 

After a phone call has been terminated, the "audio unit" interrupts the transmission or reception of the mobile phone signals or data. This takes place internally in the "audio unit".
