Under certain conditions (deep battery discharging, jump start), a communication fault may occur between the battery control unit (BSG) and the CAN bus. IMPORTANT If this occurs, do not replace the BSG. The following steps must be performed first:
↓

This causes the "red" error message "Battery/alternator - Visit workshop" to be displayed in the in the instrument cluster (IC)" 1 Switch off ignition.
2 Pull plug directly from BSG and leave unplugged for at least 5 min ("circuit 30 reset").
The STAR DIAGNOSIS quick test indicates this state with the marker "!". The fault "Fault in CAN communication with control unit BSG" is also current or stored in other control units (instrument cluster, SAM). 3 Perform quick test.
IMPORTANT If the BSG is again detected during the quick test, this does not  indicate a defect in the BSG, but rather the communication problem described above
Following the "circuit 30 reset" in the BSG, the displayed fault "CAN communication with control unit BSG faulty" switches status from current to stored in other control units (e.g. instrument cluster, SAM).
IMPORTANT Do not replace the BSG, since we are dealing here with a protective function that is part of the BSG's current production configuration. The BSG will again be fully operational following the "circuit 30 reset".
