Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts |

When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the parts will be affected |

 Installation |
Only tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components when vehicle is in a ready-to-drive condition. |
|

Remove air filter housing with air ducts |
Pull air filter housing vertically upwards off the rubber retainers on the cylinder head covers.
Installation:
Rub the rubber retainers on the cylinder head covers and the sealing ring of the hot film mass air flow sensor in the air filter housing with liquid lubricant.

Raise engine |
Pay attention when lifting out engine that no cables and lines are damaged and that engine does not lean against partition wall. |

Unscrew nut (3) and remove screw (4) |
Both sides of the vehicle.

Support front subframe (1) |
When working on the front-end assembly, be careful not to scratch, mark or notch the surfaces of aluminum parts. Otherwise the service life of the of the parts will be reduced. |

Remove bolts (7) from front axle carrier (1) |
The bolts are self-tapping, so the following points must be observed:
- Never retap thread in longitudinal member.
- Renew bolts.
- Use only genuine bolts (4 in total).
- When screwing in do not attach bolts at an angle
- Do not use an impact wrench.
- Observe tightening torque.

Lower the front axle carrier (1) until the bolts (5) are accessible |
Do not subject steering coupling to tensile loads. |

Unscrew bolts (5) and remove torsion bar holder (6) |

Take off torsion bar (2) |

Install in the reverse order |

Perform a wheel alignment check |
