MODIFICATION NOTES

10.8.05 The operation step "Disconnect ground line of additional battery" is deleted
Attach a cable bridge for bridging negative terminal of battery to vehicle ground has been added
Step 8  
REMOVING Remove    
NOTES Notes on avoiding damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
1 Remove trim from rear end center assembly   AR68.30-P-4785TA
2 Remove battery cover (1)    
3 Remove TIREFIT box (2) or spare wheel from spare tire well IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle configuration.  
4 Unscrew bolts (3) from tool box (4)    
5 Unclip tool box (4) using assembly wedge (5) and lift out of spare tire well SPECIAL TOOL Figure
6 Remove expansion clips (6) COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS *WH58.30-Z-1004-19A 
7 Fold up trim for spare tire well (7) until the battery control unit (N82) is accessible IMPORTANT Prop up the spare tire well paneling (7) using a suitable object.  
8 Connect negative terminal (12) of battery (G1) to ground (circuit 31) using adapter line (13) (arrow) IMPORTANT Use a suitable adapter line (13) and alligator clips (14).

9 Disconnect ground cable (8) from battery control unit (N82)    
10 Unscrew bolt (9)    
11 Unscrew bolt (10)    
12 Separate electrical connector (11) and remove battery control unit (N82)    
INSTALLING Install     
13 Position battery control unit (N82) at installation location and secure with bolt (9)    
14 Tighten bolt (10) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA54.10-P-1005-01C 
15 Fit ground line (8) to battery control unit (N82) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA54.10-P-1004-01C 
16 Remove adapter line (13) with alligator clips (14) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
17 Connect electrical connector (11) to battery control unit (N82)    
18 Remove support from spare tire well and fold down spare tire well trim (7)    
19 Install expansion clips (6)    
20 Install tool box (4) and secure with bolts (3)    
21 Install TIREFIT box (2) or spare wheel IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle configuration.  
22 Install battery cover (1)    
23 Install rear center section paneling   AR68.30-P-4785TA
