Prepare headliner for installing interior sensor - AR68.30-P-4300-05Q

Lay new headliner (1) down on suitable subsurface.
Remove interior motion sensor transmitter and receiver (A26/14) from old headliner (1) and disconnect electrical connector
Bend open fastening shackles from IRS installation frame (8) and remove IRS installation frame (8).
Detach main wiring harness (5), adhesive felt (7), interior monitoring wiring harness (6) and felt strips (10) from old headliner (1) in cutting area (2) and lay down to side.

5.1 Detach Parktronic system wiring harness (4) from old headliner (1) in cutting area (2) and lay down to side
On vehicles with code (220a) Parktronic system (PTS).
6 Fabricate template (9); for this purpose, saw through old headliner (1) first in cutting area (3) and then in cutting area (2).
7 Lay new headliner (1) down on suitable subsurface.
8 Support the new headliner (1) in the area of the cutout for PTS warning indicator (8) with suitable spacers, e.g. foamed material or styrofoam pads.
Do not use any hard or sharp-edged objects, otherwise covering of new headliner (1) will be damaged.

The foamed material or styrofoam pads prevent the new headliner (1) from sagging when performing the following steps.
9 Position template (9) on new headliner (1), align and transfer cutout for IRS installation frame (8) from template (9) to new headliner (1).
10 Remove template (9) from new headliner (1) and saw cutout for IRS installation frame (8) out of new headliner (1).
Use hacksaw blade.

Saw cutout for IRS installation frame (8) within marked contour line, to prevent the cutout for the IRS installation frame (8) becoming too large
11 Insert new IRS installation frame (8) into new headliner (1)
12 Turn new headliner (1) and bend retaining tabs of IRS installation frame (8) with plastic hammer.
Carefully position tool at IRS installation frame (8) otherwise the headliner (1) can be soiled or damaged.
13 Route new interior monitoring wiring harness (6), starting at interior motion sensor transmitter and receiver (A26/14).
The old headliner (1) serves as template for routing the wiring harness.
14 Glue new Parktronic system wiring harness (6) onto new headliner with an approx. 10 cm long strip of adhesive tape at a distance of approx. 10 cm.
Do not overcross new Parktronic system wiring harness (6) and main wiring harness (5) and apply sufficient number of strips of tapes, otherwise a short circuit on the headliner can result from chafing.
15 Clip interior motion sensor transmitter and receiver (A26/14) into IRS installation frame (8) and connect electrical connector.
