Retrofit optical waveguide cable harness - AN82.70-P-0002-01AM
Depicted with sound amplifier (A2/13) and CD changer (A2/6) special equipment
Subscriber sequence before
installation:
- Radio (A2) or COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3)
-
- a. Sound amplifier (A2/13) or CD changer (A2/6)
- b. Sound amplifier (A2/13) and CD changer (A2/6)
- Radio (A2) or COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3)
Depicted with sound amplifier (A2/13) and CD changer (A2/6) special equipment
Subscriber sequence after
installation (must be complied with):
- Radio (A2) or COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3)
- Sound amplifier (A2/13)
- CD changer (A2/6)
- Telephone transmitter/receiver D2B (A35/13)
- Radio (A2) or
COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3)
Optical waveguides are given new consecutive numbers after installation of a new ring subscriber (note information flow).
Vehicles without sound amplifier (code 810) are converted in identical manner. In this case there is no M2 module.
- Unplug connector housing of CD changer (A2/6).
- Release connector housing and withdraw white insert (ws) from connector housing for CD changer (A2/6).
- Insert new optical waveguide module M3 (new) together with white insert (ws) into the connector housing for the CD changer (A2/6), lock the housing and connect again.
Observe special routing guidelines for optical waveguides.
- Remove white (ws) insert of present M3 optical waveguide module from connector on CD changer (A2/6) and insert into new connector housing. Optical waveguide module M4 is thus created.
- Insert new M3 optical waveguide module with red (rt) insert into new connector housing and lock housing
The M3 optical waveguide module should be just long enough to establish a connection to the CD changer (A2/6) with the CTEL transmitter/receiver D2B (A35/13).
Observe special routing guidelines for optical waveguides.
- Route the closed new connector to the CTEL transmitter/ receiver D2B (A35/13) along the existing lines.
Route any excess lengths in the area of the device plate under the right rear seat in a loop that corresponds to the routing guidelines for optical waveguides.
- Route optical waveguide (M3, new) along existing wiring harnesses (M1, old) from trunk to cable duct on rear panel and on to the left rear cable duct.
- Route optical waveguide modules (M1, M3 and M4) as shown in figure into the cable ducts in the vehicle interior and fasten in place using adhesive felt.
