Retrofit fiber optical cable wiring harness - AN82.70-P-0002-01MBB

Subscriber sequence of the existing D2B wiring harness prior to installation is as follows:

COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3)
Telephone interface (A34/4) for MB portable CTEL telephone (Code 854)
or

Telephone transmitter/receiver, D2B (A35/13) for MB standard telephone (Code 853)

or

Telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) for TELE AID (Code 855)
Voice control system control unit (A35/11) (code 813)

Install D2B fiber optical cable wiring harness (10) inside the vehicle according to picture.
For vehicles without voice control system (VCS) (code 813) the D2B branch-off line, telephone/VCS (2) contains only the straight D2B coupling (13).

The D2B branch-off line, telephone/VCS (2) has a yellow color marking and is shorter than the D2B branch-off line to CD changer (1) with green color marking. Therefore installation confusion is ruled out.

Color markings on the D2B fiber optical cable wiring harness (10) must correspond to the available color markings on existing standard wiring harnesses.
Install D2B branch-off COMAND (3) (short branch-off of the D2B fiber optical cable wiring harness (10)) with slanted D2B coupling (11) inside cable duct, middle left to the installation position, COMAND.
Guide D2B branch-off line, CD changer (1) with straight D2B coupling (12) (longest branch-off) of the D2B fiber optical cable wiring harness (10) according to picture inside cable duct, left and along existing standard wiring harnesses, through the cable ducts of the seat cushion and the rear wall into the trunk compartment.
Do not buckle or extend D2B fiber optical cable, routing radii must be greater than 25 mm!

Route D2B branch-off line, CD changer (1) with straight D2B coupling (12) from the cable duct on rear wall along existing standard wiring harnesses to the left wheelhouse recess inside the trunk compartment.
Fasten D2B branch-off line, CD changer (1) with felt masking tape on the standard wiring harnesses.
Do not buckle or extend D2B fiber optical cable, routing radii must be greater than 25 mm!

Disconnect the D2B fiber optical cable wiring harness installed between COMAND and control unit carrier (8) from the telephone and VCS control units, wrap it in felt masking tape and tie it back.
The D2B wiring harness remains inside the vehicle. Ensure that the D2B fiber optical cable wiring harness tied back does not make noise.
Install D2B branch-off line, telephone/VCS (2) with straight D2B coupling and slanted D2B coupling of the D2B fiber optical cable wiring harness (10) along the right cable duct to the control unit carrier (8).
For vehicles without voice control system (VCS) (code 813) the D2B branch-off line, telephone/VCS (2) contains only a straight D2B coupling. The D2B branch-off line, telephone/VCS (2) has a yellow color marking and is shorter than the D2B branch-off line, CD changer (1), therefore confusion during installation is ruled out.

Fasten D2B branch-off line telephone/VCS (2) with felt masking tape on the standard wiring harnesses.

Insert straight D2B coupling (13) in telephone transmitter/receiver, D2B (A35/13) for MB standard telephone (Code 853).
or

Insert telephone transmitter/receiver and TELE AID, D2B (A35/17) for TELE AID (Code 855)

Telephone interface A34/4 (shown in the picture) takes the place of D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) in the case of MB portable CTEL telephone (Code 854).

10.1 Insert the slanted D2B coupling (14) into voice control system control unit (A35/11).
For code (813), voice control system (VCS): Slanted D2B coupling (14) is marked with a flag on the fiber optical cable with the letters VCS.
Fasten D2B branch-off line, telephone/VCS (2) on the standard wiring harnesses and tie with new strap (arrows).
Do not buckle or extend D2B fiber optical cable, routing radii must be greater than 25 mm!
