Retrofit fiber optic wiring harness - AN82.70-P-0002-01MG

Fiber optical cable wiring harness connecting plan

IMPORTANT Component sequence before installation:

Illustrated on vehicle with CD player with changer (A2/6) 

IMPORTANT Subscriber sequence after installation (must be complied with):

Vehicles with sound amplifier (code 810) are converted in the same manner.

  1. Detach connector housing from CD player with changer (in trunk) (A2/6) or sound amplifier (A2/13).
  2. Release connector housing, remove white insert (ws) from connector housing of CD player with changer (in trunk) (A2/6) or  sound amplifier (A2/13) and cut off (no longer required).
  3. Insert new fiber optical cable module M2 (new) with white insert (ws) into connector housing for CD player with changer (in trunk) (A2/6) or  sound amplifier (A2/13) and lock housing.

  4. Attach connector housing to CD player with changer (in trunk) (A2/6, see arrow) or  sound amplifier (A2/13).
  5. Route fiber optical cable (M2, new) along existing wiring in left side of trunk to cable duct on rear panel and on to the left rear cable duct.

    IMPORTANT Observe special routing guidelines for fiber optical cables.

  6. Route fiber optical cable module (M2, new) in cable duct in vehicle interior to D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) as shown in illustration and fix in position using adhesive felt.

    IMPORTANT Observe special routing guidelines for fiber optical cables.

  7. Insert red insert (rt) of new fiber optical cable module (M2) in a new connector housing.

    IMPORTANT The new connector housing is for the D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13).

  8. Insert white insert (ws) of a new fiber optical cable module (M3) into new connector housing for D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) and lock connector housing.

  9. Connect the new connector housing to D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13).
  10. Route fiber optical cable module (M3, new) in the cable ducts in the vehicle interior to the radio or  COMAND installation location as shown in illustration and fix in position with adhesive felt.

    IMPORTANT Observe special routing guidelines for fiber optical cables.

    IMPORTANT Route any excess lengths in the area of the device plate under the right rear seat in a loop that corresponds to the routing guidelines for optical waveguides.

  11. Release connector housing from radio (A2) or  COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3), remove red (rt) insert and cut off (no longer required).
  12. Insert red insert (rt) of new fiber optical cable module (M3) into connector housing and lock connector housing.

    IMPORTANT Connector housing is attached to the radio (A2) or  COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3) when radio or COMAND is installed.
