Perform smooth operation optimization - AF40.10-P-3201-01AV

IMPORTANTWith menu-assisted "smooth operation optimization program".

Practically all  wheel balancing machines are equipped with a menu-assisted "smooth operation optimization program", a so-called match program.

  1. Match wheels

IMPORTANT Basically, only new tires with steel wheels should be matched. For aluminum wheels the above-mentioned rule is only valid for models 140, 215, 220. For all other OE aluminum wheels (Original Equipment) matching is no longer absolutely essential.

IMPORTANT During the matching process, the concentric-running characteristic of the wheel-and-tire assembly is optimized, in other words the low point of the 1st. harmonic radial-force variation of tires - marked by a yellow-colored dot at the side wall (match point) - the disk-type wheel (light-alloy wheel = black dot and white dot for sheet-steel wheel) is rotated at the high point.

IMPORTANTWithout menu-assisted "smooth operation optimization program".

  1. Determine runout of disc wheel
  2. Mark radial runout high point
  3. Mount tires

NOTES Mount the tires such that the radial runout low point of the tire matches the radial runout high point of the disk wheel exactly. Here, the raised bead and the raised-bead seat area of the wheel rim are to be coated as described in the WIS. If possible, inflate first without valve, in order to ensure an ideal raised-bead seat! The spring pressure should not be significantly in excess of 2 bar. On no account may the tire only jump over the hump as from 4 bar (danger of a raised-bead cable fracture).

  4. Balance wheels exactly to "zero"

NOTES If a radial runout is detected we recommend pressing the tire off again, re-inflating it and balancing it again as described.
