Function 

The central locking (CL) locks and unlocks the vehicle

Control (manual functions) 

The central locking (CL) is operated by:

• Remote control with transmitter key (A8/1).
• Opening a vehicle door from inside
• Control with interior CL switch (N72/1s6) (up to 23.4.04)
• Control with 'unlock CL' interior switch (N72/1s16) and 'lock CL' interior switch (N72/1s26) (as of 24.4.04)
• Control with trunk lid release switch (S20/1s6) (only on model 203.0)

It is only possible to operate the central locking (CL) with the mechanical key.

Only the driver's door, the trunk lid (only model 203.0), the rear door (only model 203.2) or the tailgate (only model 203.7) can be opened manually with the mechanical key.

On vehicles with code (551) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) an alarm is triggered.

The master control unit for central locking (CL) is the EIS control unit (N73), which is connected with the controller area network bus, class B (interior compartment (CAN B) for realization of the functions.
