Tank pressure sensor ME - fault code description - AD07.61-P-4000-21L

USA ONLY

    Fuel tank pressure sensor
1A Fault code
(USA ONLY Readout on generic scan tool)
P201C Fuel tank pressure sensor, electrical fault(P0450)
1B Engines 112, 113 as of 1/01 P201C-[1] Fuel tank pressure sensor, short circuit to positive (P0450)
Fault code P201C-[2] Fuel tank pressure sensor, short circuit to ground (P0450)
(USA ONLY Readout on generic scan tool) P201C-[4] Fuel tank pressure sensor, discontinuity (P0450)
2 Fault storage after expiry of test duration and fault
Actuation CHECK ENGINE (MIL) malfunction indicator lamp USA ONLY following two successive driving cycles with faults
3 Checking frequency Continuous
4 Checked signal or status Tank pressure sensor signal
5 Fault setting conditions
Short circuit to positive Voltage greater than 4.7 V (equivalent to an approx. 35 mbar vacuum)
Short circuit to ground/open circuit Voltage less than 0.1 V (equivalent to an approx. -60 mbar vacuum)
Checking duration About 10 seconds per limit value
Signal curve The tank pressure must only pulse for enabled purging by a maximum of 2 mbar (approx. 0.1 V) otherwise the activated charcoal canister may be clogged.
6 Check prerequisites Idle speed
7 IMPORTANT Checking runs independently of the leak test for purging. The fuel tank pressure sensor is checked for an electrical fault (discontinuity, short circuit to ground or positive). There is a fault if the sensor voltage exceeds or goes below the limits.
Characteristic of the tank pressure sensor: - 50 mbar, about 0.5 volts; 0 mbar, about 3.0 volts; +30 mbar approx. 4.5 volts.
The fuel tank pressure sensor may be so faulty that the signal is constant but still plausible (sensor sticking). The fault: purging system has a gross leak (P2013) will be recognized in such cases.
