Steering column module, task - GF54.21-P-4104-02Q

General

The steering column module (N80) is connected to the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) and Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) but it is not used as an interface (Gateway) between the two bus systems.

All the actuations on the multifunction steering wheel are read in voltage-coded by the steering column module (N80) and placed on the CAN-B or CAN-C.

IMPORTANT On model 203.7 the communication between the steering column module (N80) and multifunction steering wheel does not take place voltage-coded, but via the LIN bus (Local Interconnect Network).

On models 203.0 and 203.2 the communication via the LIN bus only takes place for code (424) Sequentronic automated manual transmission (ASG) otherwise voltage-coded.

Tasks
