Steering column module, task - GF54.21-P-4104-02Q

General 

The steering column module (N80) is connected to the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) and Controller Area Network bus class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) but it is not used as an interface (Gateway) between the two bus systems.

All the actuations on the multifunction steering wheel are read in voltage-coded by the steering column module (N80) and placed on the CAN-B or CAN-C.

On model 203.7 the communication between the steering column module (N80) and multifunction steering wheel does not take place voltage-coded, but via the LIN bus (Local Interconnect Network).

On models 203.0 and 203.2 the communication via the LIN bus only takes place for code (424) Sequentronic automated manual transmission (ASG) otherwise voltage-coded.

Tasks 

• Scans the combination switch (S4)
• Reads in the CC [TPM] with variable speed limiter switch (S40/4)
• Actuates the yellow LED, variable speed limiter (S40/4v1)
• Scans and initializes the steering angle sensor (N49)
• Reads in the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
• Reads in the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111)
• Actuates the switch and controls illumination in the multifunction steering wheel

With code (424) Sequentronic automated manual transmission (ASG):

• Reads in the left steering wheel gear shifter (S110/2)
• Reads in the right steering wheel gear shifter (S111/2)

With code (275c) driver seat, steering column and electrically adjustable outside mirror with memory:

• Reads in the steering column adjustment switch (S59)

With code (813) voice control system (VCS):

• Scans the voice control system switch (S93/2)
