The display screens "since start" and "since reset" for the fuel consumption can be activated via the system selection button (S110s3) and the scroll forward/back button (S110s1) of the multifunction steering wheel (MFL).

The fuel consumption is displayed in the following ways depending on the setting (miles or kilometers) and the national version coding of the instrument cluster (A1):

The trip computer (RRE) determines the average fuel consumption by means of the distance covered and the consumption signal.

IMPORTANT The consumption signal contains information about the quantity of fuel injected per unit time.

The instrument cluster (A1) receives this data in the following way:

IMPORTANT After resetting it can take up to 3 kilometers/miles or 2 minutes until sufficient data is available in order to calculate the consumption correctly and display it. During this time, depending on the unit setting (miles or kilometers) and the national variant coding of the instrument cluster (A1), the display shows 5.8 MPG, 40 L/100 km or 2.5 km/L.

It is completely normal for the "since start" multifunction display (A1p13) (short-distance memory) and "since reset" multifunction display (A1p13) (long-distance memory) to show different values, since the two displays are based on different sets of data.

The "since start" display (short-distance memory) reacts much more sensitively to the current driving situation than the "since reset" display (long-distance memory).
