Risk of injury in vicinity of roll bar during testing and repair work - AS91.00-Z-0003-01R
Run out the roll bar before starting to work in the vicinity of the roll bar. Keep body parts away from the movement range of the roll bar mechanism.
Injury hazard
Serious injury can occur when working on the roll bar due to sudden roll bar raising, particularly during mechanical raising and lowering. The roll bar can be unintentionally activated during diagnosis and maintenance work on the UVS control module (N52) (the roll-over sensors are integrated in the UVS control module!).
Automatic roll bar activation can also occur within 15 seconds of "Ignition OFF".
Protective measures/guidelines
- Inspect danger zone.
- Raise the roll bar as far as possible and switch the ignition off before starting to work in the vicinity of the roll bar.
- If the roll bar cannot be raised due to a malfunction, pull the plug from the UVS control module (N52).
Keep body parts away from the movement range of the roll bar mechanism.
- The roll bar must be depressed with extreme caution with the assistance of another mechanic during mechanical lowering. It must be ensured that the catches have engaged in the supports when mechanical lowering takes place.
- When mechanical raising takes place the roll bar must be held with extreme caution with the assistance of another mechanic and slowly raised.
