The SAM control unit on the passenger side (N10/11) has the following tasks:
Controlling
- Headlamp cleaning system (HCS)
- Auxiliary water pump
- Washer fluid hose heater
- Passenger compartment lighting
- Exterior lights
Scanning the following switches:
- Voltage charged radiator fluid control switch (S41) together with the water level control switch Windshield wiper system (S42)
- Electronic alarm system engine hood contacts (S62)
- Storage compartment switches (S85)
- Glove compartment illumination switch (E13/2)
Reading of the following signals:
- Brake lining wear front left
Scanning the following signals:
- Circuit 61 (the pre-exciter current is generated in the SAM by a series resistor)
Switching loads via semiconductor switches:
- Stationary and park lights front right (E1e3)
- Dimmer lights front right (E1e2)
- High beam/headlamp front right (E2e1)
- Fog lamps front right (E1e4)
- Driving direction display front right
- Sidemarker front right (only in USA)
- Storage compartment lighting (E36)
- Footwell lighting (E17/1 and E17/2)
- Washer nozzle heating (R2/1)
- Washer nozzle hose heater (R2/11)
- SRA washer pump (K 26/2)
- Auxiliary water pump (M13/2)
Switches in the following relays:
- Fanfare (K39)
- Transmission oil cooler
The SAM control unit on the passenger side (N10/11) assumes the following EHB signal switches:
- Alarm lines
- Speed status signal
- Brake light switch signal
- Active recoil
The SAM control unit on the passenger side (N10/11) is connected to the passenger compartment CAN for the exchange of data.
