Selecting telephone antenna, function - GF82.95-P-3001RE

MODEL 230 with CODE (349) E-Call emergency call system with CODE (498) Japan version

MODEL 230 up to 30.6.04 with CODE (349) E-Call emergency call system with CODE (494) USA version

For normal phone calls, the call is handled via the telephone antenna (A2/22)  .

This antenna can be damaged in the case of an accident (e.g. rollover). This would also make an EMERGENCY CALL impossible. To ensure that this is always prevented along with the telephone antenna  an emergency call backup antenna (A2/50)  is also installed.

This is installed at a location which is largely protected against crash ahead of the roll bar, and is used only if required.

The telephone antenna  is always active as long as no emergency call has been triggered. In the event of an emergency call the E-call control unit (A35/8)  checks the signal level of the telephone antenna  and the emergency call backup antenna (A2/50)  .

Depending on the test result the E-call control unit (A35/8)  then switches to the "better" antenna and the emergency call is sent.
