High beam control, function - GF82.10-P-3004R

MODEL 230

Fig 1: High Beam Control - Communication Diagram

Shown on vehicle with code (614) Bixenon headlamp unit

High beam

Function requirements

Function

The headlamp flasher/high beam switch (S4s2) is switched to "High beam" position. The steering column module (N80) detects the "High beam" switch position and over CAN-B (CAN-B) sends the signal to the driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10).

This relays the request to the passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11) and to the instrument cluster (A1).

The driver-side SAM control unit (N10/10) actuates the left high beam (E1e1) in the left front lamp unit.

The passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11) actuates the right high beam (E2e1) in the right front lamp unit.

For vehicles with code (614) Bi-xenon headlamp unit the left high beam solenoid (E1l1) and right high beam solenoid (E2l1) are also actuated.

As a consequence the covers, each of which cover up the lower part of the light beam on the low beam, are moved downward. This makes the entire bi-xenon light beam available for the high-beam function.

Feedback

The instrument cluster (A1) actuates the blue high beam indicator lamp (A1e3).

Headlamp flasher

Conditions of operation

Function

The headlamp flasher/high beam cut-in switch (S4s2) is pulled to the "Headlamp flasher" position. The data flow is the same as for the high beam function.

The left high beam (E1e1) and the right high beam (E2e1) remain active as long as the headlamp flasher/high beam switch (S4s2) is held in the "headlamp flasher" position.

A switched-off low beam is not switched on, i.e. in this case only the halogen lamp is available. The left high beam solenoid (E1l1) and the right high beam solenoid (E2l1) are still actuated.

Feedback

The instrument cluster (A1) actuates the blue high beam indicator lamp (A1e3).
