  Adjust    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
1 Close Vario roof    
2 Open trunk lid (1)    
3 Remove wiring harness (15) from right hinge bracket (2) until nuts (8) are accessible and sufficient clearance is present for installing strut (5). SPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
4 Disconnect electrical connector (4)    
5 Screw strut (5) to hinge base plate on left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2) through present threaded holes. IMPORTANT The strut prevents (5) the position of the left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2) from changing in relation to one another

6 Loosen left and right stop buffer (6) and screw in completely    
7 Loosen bolt on left and right striker (7) IMPORTANT Unscrew bolts so that striker (7) can still be moved.  
8 Loosen nuts (8, 9) on hinge base plates of left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2)    
9 Apply chalk to roller (10) on left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2).    
10 Close trunk lid (1) and open again NOTES Carefully close trunk lid (1); if adjusted incorrectly, C-pillar top sections, fender and trunk (1) can be damaged.  
11 Check whether rollers (10) make uniform contact with left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2); if necessary adjust strut (5). IMPORTANT The chalk imprint should make uniform contact in the cross-hatch pattern (arrow C) on the left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2).

12 Close trunk lid (1) and check gap "F" on left and right rear fender, adjust by moving trunk lid (1). Gap between trunk lid and rear fender, dimension "F" *BE60.00-P-1003-01A

13 Carefully open trunk lid (1) IMPORTANT Open only until nuts (9) are accessible.  
14 Tighten nuts (9) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.50-P-1014-01A 
15 Close trunk lid (1) and check gap "F" again, repeat adjustment if necessary. Gap between trunk lid and rear fender, dimension "F" *BE60.00-P-1003-01A

16 Open trunk lid (1) and tighten nuts (8) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.50-P-1014-01A 
17 Remove strut (5) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 4
18 Install wiring harness (15) on right hinge bracket (2)    
19 Connect electrical connector (4)    
20 Completely screw in stop buffer (16)    
21 Close trunk lid (1) and check gap "V", adjust if necessary. IMPORTANT Adjust by moving locking eye (13).  
    Gap between trunk lid and bumper, dimension "V" *BE60.00-P-1003-01A 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.50-P-1004-01A

22 Coat left and right closing wedge (7) with chalk, adjust gap "M" by moving striker (7). IMPORTANT The chalk impression must feature evenly on the supports (11)
The gap between the taillamp and trunk lid (1) must not be wedge-shaped.
 
    Gap between trunk lid and taillamp, dimension "M" *BE60.00-P-1003-01A

23 Tighten bolts on striker (7) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.50-P-1015-01A 
24 Unscrew the punch buffer (16) until they abut the rear center section when the trunk lid (1) is closed.
Then screw in stop buffer (16) one turn
IMPORTANT Check with chalk impression.  
25 Completely open Vario roof and adjust stop buffer (6). IMPORTANT Adjust stop buffer (6) in relation to trunk lid (1) without clearance until rear trunk lid tips (12) are flush with fender edges in area of C-pillar top sections (arrow D).  
26 Check transitions between trunk lid (1) and upper rear fender with gauge (14), if necessary adjust by moving stop buffer (6). IMPORTANT The trunk lid tips (12) should be flush or a maximum of 1 mm deeper than the fender edges.
Position gauge (14) at measuring points (A, B) as illustrated.
Guide dimension (a): approx. 210 mm
Guide dimension (b): approx. 57 mm

27 Check gaps on trunk lid (1), adjust if necessary Gaps between
trunk lid and rear fender, dimension "F"
trunk lid and taillamp, dimension "M"
trunk lid and bumper, dimension "V"
