| 3 | Remove wiring harness (15) from right hinge bracket (2) until nuts (8) are accessible and sufficient clearance is present for installing strut (5). | Fig 4 | |
| 4 | Disconnect electrical connector (4) | ||
| 5 | Screw strut (5) to hinge base plate on left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2) through present threaded holes. | ||

| 9 | Apply chalk to roller (10) on left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2). | ||
| 10 | Close trunk lid (1) and open again | ||
| 11 | Check whether rollers (10) make uniform contact with left hinge bracket (3) and right hinge bracket (2); if necessary adjust strut (5). | ||
