Charge air cooler circulation pump, ME-SFI fault code description - AD07.61-P-4000-98M

1 Fault code P2002 Charge air cooler circulation pump (M44), actuation (-)
(Fault code according to OBD) P20E1 Charge air temperature too high (-)
2 Fault storage After expiry of test duration and fault
Actuation of engine diagnosis indicator lamp (EURO4) or CHECK ENGINE (MIL) USA ONLY no activation
3 Checking frequency Continuous
4 Checked signal or status
  • Current and voltage on the charge air cooler circulation pump relay
  • Signal from charge air temperature sensor
5 Fault setting conditions
Short circuit to ground Voltage lower than 4 volts
Short circuit to positive Current higher than 4.2 A
Open circuit in wiring No voltage on the charge air cooler circulation pump relay, approx. 4 to 8 V on under no load output of the ME control unit
6 Check prerequisites Battery voltage between 8 and 17 V
7 IMPORTANT Actuation is checked for a line interruption and short-circuit (to ground or battery voltage). A short circuit to ground and a cable breakage will be recognized when the output stages are locked, while a short circuit to the battery voltage is recognized when the output stages are conducting.
The output stage is immediately no longer activated when a fault arises. This means that the charge air temperature can go above 70°C (loss of performance).
Model 240: diagnosis locked out because the charge air cooler circulation pump relay (N10/9kO) in the passenger-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/9) is actuated by its own output stage which is not checked by the engine control unit.
