	Risk of injury  caused by body parts being jammed or crushed. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system	Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.	AS42.46-Z-0001-01A

	Remove/install
1	Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS.	Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)
		The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:
		Select menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Deactivate 'SBC' system".
		Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.
2	Detach brake caliper carrier from steering knuckle or wheel carrier	Do not detach brake hose, instead attach brake caliper to vehicle so that it is free of tension. Do not kink or tension brake hose, as otherwise it will be damaged.
		At the front axle:
		Floating caliper	AR42.10-P-0070T
		4-piston fixed caliper	AR42.10-P-0070R
		6- or 8-piston fixed brake caliper	AR42.10-P-0070RA
		At the rear axle:
		Floating caliper	AR42.10-P-0080R
		Fixed caliper	AR42.10-P-0080RA
	Checking
3	Check brake lining thickness and brake disks (61)	Only replace brake pads and brake disks (61) in complete sets if necessary.
	Check brake lining thickness		AP42.10-P-4253A
	Inspect condition of brake disks		AP42.10-P-4258R
4	Release parking brake	When removing the brake disks (61) on the rear axle
5	Unscrew locking bolt (63) and remove brake disk (61)	If the parking brake drum is worn turn back the slack adjuster for the parking brake, otherwise the parking brake shoe will be damaged:

		Installation:  Only replace brake disks (61) in pairs. Lightly grease the seat of the brake disk (61) with MB long-life grease and replace the locking bolt (63).
		Installation:  On 6-piston brake calipers note mark for direction of rotation (65)! The arrow must point in the direction of rotation of the wheel during forward travel.

6	Check lining thickness and condition of parking brake shoe	After removing the rear axle brake disks (61), if necessary: ↓
		Replace parking brake shoes:
		Model 211	AR42.20-P-0530T
		Model 230	AR42.20-P-0530I
7	Install in the reverse order
8	Activate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS	Vehicles with Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC)
		The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:
		Select the menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Initial startup after repair"/"Replace brake disks".
		Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.
9	Adjust parking brake	After removing brake disk (61) from rear axle

10	Carry out brake test on the test stand		AP42.00-P-4290BA
