Residual engine heat utilization for AAC
The residual engine heat utilization feature allows the vehicle to be heated even when the ignition is switched OFF . The system utilizes the residual engine heat which is blown into the passenger compartment by the blower. Residual engine heat utilization is only possible with the ignition OFF.
After actuating the residual heat button

) on the AAC pushbutton control module the following program sequence is preset:
- Duo-valves are regulated
- Hot water circulation pump ON
- Blower is automatically supplied with a control voltage of 1.6 V (starts with 6 second delay)
- Defroster, footwell and blend flaps are adjusted automatically
- Diverter and fresh air/recirculated air flaps are closed
- Activated charcoal filter flap open (activated charcoal filter mode not possible)
End of program
- Press residual heat button (
) again
- The operating time expires after 30 minutes (further actuation possible)
- The word REST flashes on the display when the battery voltage is less than 11 V
- Ignition ON
During the residual engine heat utilization mode none of the function buttons except the residual heat button (
), the temperature controls and the rear window defroster button are operable.
