Function of residual engine heat utilization of automatic climate control
Residual engine heat utilization with stationary ventilation allows vehicle to be heated even with ignition OFF . For this, system uses residual heat of engine and leads it via blower into interior. Residual engine heat utilization is only possible with ignition OFF.
After actuation of rest button
(
) on control and operating unit of automatic climate control, the following program process is begun:
- Duo valve regulated
- Heating water recirculation pump ON
- Blower is automatically supplied with control voltage of 1.6 V (with 6 second delay)
- Defroster, footwell and air conditioning flaps are automatically adjusted.
- Diverter, fresh/circulating air flaps are closed
- Activated charcoal canister flap open (no activated coal filter operation possible)

Residual engine heat utilization with stationary ventilation allows vehicle to be heated even with ignition OFF . For this, system uses residual heat of engine and leads it via blower into interior. Residual engine heat utilization is only possible with ignition OFF.
After actuation of rest button

) on control and operating unit of automatic climate control, the following program process is begun:
- Duo valve regulated
- Auxiliary coolant pump ON
- Blower is automatically supplied with control voltage of 1.2 V (immediately after switching on)
- Actuator motor (manual flap adjustment possible)
- Refrigerant shut-off valve closed
Program end
- Repeated actuation of rest button (
)
- Process of time function of 30 minutes (further actuation is possible). If rear air conditioning system is in REST mode at the same time, operation duration is limited to 15 minutes (current consumption)
- With battery voltage below 11 V, REST flashes in display
- Ignition ON
During functioning of residual engine heat utilization, no function buttons are accepted apart from rest button (
) nominal value adjusters and rear window heater button.
Program end
- Repeated actuation of rest button (
- Process of time function of 30 minutes (further actuation is possible). If rear air conditioning system is in REST mode at the same time, operation duration is limited to 15 minutes (current consumption)
- With battery voltage below 11.5 V REST display moves up in display and a battery symbol appears.
- With battery voltage below 11.3 V system switches off.
- Ignition ON
During functioning of residual engine heat utilization only rest button (
), temperature button (
) and air distribution regulator are accepted.
