Component description for the coolant temperature sensor - GF07.04-P-6040SM

ENGINE 113.986

ENGINE 113.987

ENGINE 113.988

ENGINE 113.989

The coolant temperature sensor is located at the front on the engine, below the electric air pump (M33).

Task

The coolant temperature sensor detects the coolant temperature and sends an appropriate voltage signal to the ME control unit (N3/10).

Function

The NTC resistor integrated in the coolant temperature sensor alters its electrical resistance in line with the coolant temperature. The ME control unit applies a sensor voltage of 5 V and evaluates signal voltage corresponding to the coolant temperature.

NTC means "N  egative T  emperature Coefficient", which means: the electrical resistance drops as the temperature increases (thermal resistor).

Example:

Coolant temperature Resistor

20°C 3090 Ω ± 5%

80°C 320 Ω ± 5%

IMPORTANT

The connection assignment (polarity) of connection pin 1 and 2 is random.
