Tire pressure monitor (TPM), operation-related messages - GF40.15-P-0001-05B
Models 215, 220 up to 30.09.00
Operation-related messages in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) alert the driver to the fact that the air pressure in at least one tire is changing or has changed. The messages are displayed in either red (warning messages) or yellow (information messages).
Operation-related messages are stored in the TPM control unit (N88) with an event code.
Operation-related messages describe a regular operating condition and there is no reason to replace system components in the event of a complaint.
The following operation-related messages may occur:
System message
Red warning messages occur only in the same ignition sequence. This system message is displayed during the next ignition sequence.
Information message
If the air pressure in one or more tires drops > 0.2 bar and not > 0.4 bar below the specified pressure set by the driver and stored in the TPM control unit (N88), this message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13) without the tire location specified. The information message first appears during the next ignition sequence. It advises the driver to check the tire inflation pressures, to correct them if necessary, and then to reactivate the tire pressure monitor system.
If the system is not reactivated, this information message is repeated for approx. 30 s every time the engine is started before disappearing again.
Warning message
If the tire pressure monitor system detects a rapid pressure loss (> 0.2 bar/min) in one or more tires, this warning message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
If the pressure loss only occurs at one tire, this warning message is displayed until the location of the tire has been identified.
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check all the tires for foreign objects which may have punctured the tires. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the air pressure in one or more tires drops > 0.4 bar below the specified pressure set by the driver and stored in the TPM control unit (N88), this message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
This warning message is also displayed whenever the TPM control unit (N88) refuses an activation request due to implausible pressure values.
Implausible pressure values:
- The tire inflation pressure set by the driver is below the minimum pressure stored in the TPM control unit (N88), which is a specific tire pressure for each vehicle model series and must not be violated.
- The pressure difference between the tire inflation pressures on one axle is > 0.4 bar.
Remedy:
- Correct tire inflation pressures.
- Reactivate tire pressure monitor system.
Warning message
If the tire pressure monitor system detects a rapid pressure loss (> 0.2 bar/min) in the left front tire, this warning message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the left front tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the air pressure in the left front tire drops > 0.4 bar below the specified pressure set by the driver and stored in the TPM control unit (N88), this message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the left front tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the tire pressure monitor system detects a rapid pressure loss (> 0.2 bar/min) in the right front tire, this warning message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the right front tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the air pressure in the right front tire drops > 0.4 bar below the specified pressure set by the driver and stored in the TPM control unit (N88), this message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the right front tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the tire pressure monitor system detects a rapid pressure loss (> 0.2 bar/min) in the left rear tire, this warning message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the left rear tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the air pressure in the left rear tire drops > 0.4 bar below the specified pressure set by the driver and stored in the TPM control unit (N88), this message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the left rear tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the tire pressure monitor system detects a rapid pressure loss (> 0.2 bar/min) in the right rear tire, this warning message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the right rear tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
Warning message
If the air pressure in the right rear tire drops > 0.4 bar below the specified pressure set by the driver and stored in the TPM control unit (N88), this message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13).
The driver is advised to stop the vehicle immediately and to check the right rear tire for foreign objects which may have punctured the tire. The spare wheel may have to be fitted in order to restore driving safety.
