Remove/install the suspension strut - AR32.25-P-1017N

MODEL 215

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing hydraulic fluid. Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on ABC-suspension   AH32.50-P-0001-01N 
IMPORTANT Whenever a suspension strut is replaced, the plunger travel sensors must be recalibrated with STAR DIAGNOSIS.    
IMPORTANTInstallation  Tighten nuts and bolts of chassis components only when vehicle is in the ready-to-drive condition.    
1 Disconnect connector for left front plunger travel sensor or right front plunger travel sensor (B22/4,B22/5) from suspension strut (40)    
2 Unscrew nut (40c) on front end TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1001-04B 
3 Remove front wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove and install wheels   AP40.10-P-4050Z
4 Open bleed screw (56) and depressurize suspension strut (40) IMPORTANT The engine must be shut off for at least 5 minutes.
NOTES Open bleed screw carefully so that the hydraulic fluid can drain out slowly to prevent the body from dropping too rapidly.
 
5 Remove nut (40d) of cable bracket    
6 Undo quick-release coupling (40b) on hydraulic line IMPORTANT Remove cap.
NOTES Also ensure that no dirt reaches the opened quick-release fitting.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that the quick-release fitting engages properly.
 
7 Remove bolts (40a) from spring control arm IMPORTANTInstallation:  Ensure that the bolts (40a) are seated at least flush with the suspension strut (40) or are slightly recessed.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.25-P-1002-04B 
8 Push down spring control arm, undo spring strut (40) from ball joint and remove downwards IMPORTANTInstallation:  Raise the spring control arm using the COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS transmission jack and COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS transmission platform, in the process press the ball joint pin firmly into the cone of the suspension strut.
IMPORTANT Ensure that the pin is properly seated in the conical joint.
 
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Transmission plate *WE58.40-Z-1018-11A 
    COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE TOOLS Transmission jack *WE58.40-Z-1030-11A 
REFER TO FORMS Dispose of strut.   OS32.25-P-0122-01N 
9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Fill and bleed ABC system   AR32.50-P-0021N
