DANGER The spring in the inertia reel can pose an injury hazard  when the tension is released and it uncoils. Never disassemble inertia reels AS91.00-Z-0002-01A
DANGER Risk of injury.  Injuries may result when performing testing or repair work on airbag or emergency tensioning retractor units. Store airbag unit with expulsion area on top, do not subject to temperatures above 100 °C. When working on these units, disconnect the power supply. AS91.00-Z-0001-01A
NOTES Important instructions for performing repair, body work and welding on vehicles with airbags or belt tensioner units Models 203, 209, 211.004/ 006/ 016/ 061/065/ 070, 215, 220, 230, 240, 450.3/4.

1 Remove rear seat backrest Without electrically adjustable rear bench seat, code 223b and without individual rear seats, electrically adjustable, with seat ventilation, heated seats and memory package, code 224c. AR91.12-P-1620MA

3 Undo screw (3) at belt guide clip (4) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw to rear belt guide *BA91.40-P-1010-01A 
4 Unscrew bolt (5) at seat belt guide bracket (6) SPECIAL TOOL Torque wrench. Fig 2
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw in rear upper belt guide fitting *BA91.40-P-1005-01A 
5 Unscrew bolt (1) from seat belt end fitting (2) IMPORTANTInstallation:  check catch of belt end fitting  
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque wrench. Fig 2
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw on belt end fitting *BA91.40-P-1001-01A 
6 Disconnect connector from ignition squib for emergency tensioning retractor, rear left (R12/6) and right (R12/7)    
7 Unscrew bolt (7) at automatic belt retractor (8) IMPORTANTInstallation:  check catch (arrow) of automatic belt retractor  
    SPECIAL TOOL Torque wrench. Fig 2

8 Remove automatic belt retractor (8) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Note different versions (left, right) of emergency tensioning retractor and its proper location in the catch. Noises from the automatic belt reel when rolling up belt are normal. The only available response to negative customer feedback regarding unacceptable noise levels is to replace the seat belt assembly with emergency tensioning retractor in its entirety.
NOTES Never use oil or grease for eliminating noises.
Automatic belt retractors that have been opened are no longer under warranty!
If the seat belt with emergency belt tensioner has been replaced, the defective unit must be disposed of properly: ↓

9 Install in the reverse order    
10 Carry out diagnosis IMPORTANT STAR DIAGNOSIS
