	Remove/install
	Risk of injury to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects.	Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary.	AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
1	Remove front wheel
	Remove/install wheels		AP40.10-P-4050G
2	Press back brake pads (1)
	Checking
3	Check wheel bearing play with dial gage	In the case of bearings which have run in service, aim for a wheel bearing play of 0.03 mm.

4	Pull off the grease cap (2).		Fig 4
5	Unlock outer slotted nut
6	Mount retainer wrench		Fig 5
7	Unscrew outer slotted nut	Use the claw wrench to match the installed type of nut (chamfered on one side, on both sides).

8	Remove locking plate.
9	Loosen inner slotted nut	Use the claw wrench to match the installed type of nut (chamfered on one side, on both sides).

10	Tighten inner slotted nut	Initial torque 200 Nm. While tightening the wheel hub, crank at least 3 times continually, in the process strike the wheel hub in a crosswise pattern using a rubber hammer. (This settles and positions the bearing rollers)
11	Release inner slotted nut and tighten again until it makes zero-clearance contact with the pressure plate.
12	Loosen inner slotted nut Approx. 45°, until Approx. 0.1 mm play is present
13	Mount locking plate
14	Coat outer slotted nut with MB-multipurpose grease and tighten	The beveling on the slotted nuts must point toward the locking tab side.

	Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work	Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
19	Operate brake pedal several times	Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
20	Mount front wheel
