MODIFICATION NOTES

9.7.09 Remove wheel, added Step 1  
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
1 Remove wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050G
2 Detach brake line (5) on fixed brake caliper (31). IMPORTANT Seal off connections immediately using plugs to prevent the brake fluid reservoir running empty.

3 Separate left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) from the left front brake pad contact sensor connector (S10/1x1) Models 461, 463  
4.1 Remove brake wear indicator contact sensor from fixed brake caliper (31) Model 460  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1003-02B 
4.2 Detach left front brake pad contact sensor connector (S10/1x1) on fixed brake caliper (31) Models 461, 463  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1003-02B 
5 Detach fixed brake caliper (31) on steering knuckle IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace bolts (35).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Fixed brake caliper to steering knuckle *BA42.10-P-1002-02B 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Fixed brake caliper to joint housing *BA42.10-P-1004-02B 
6 Bleed brake system model 463 with code (979) special protection version. AR42.10-P-0010GG 
Model 463.236/248 with code (979) Special protection version AR42.10-P-0010GS
7 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work Before starting engine, actuate brake pedal several times until the pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
8.1 Press brake pedal several times and check brake system for leaks Except model 463.236 /248 with code (979) Special protection version
IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
