REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by body parts being jammed or crushed. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by brake fluid spraying out at high pressure when working on the SBC brake system Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS. AS42.46-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Pour brake fluid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by drilling gas-filled assemblies or components (noncombustible gases) Wear safety glasses and a face mask. AS00.00-Z-0006-01A
NOTES Notes on repairs to brake system   AH42.00-P-0003-01A
1 Deactivate SBC brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS. IMPORTANT The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:
Select menu item "SBC-Sensotronic Brake Control"/"Deactivate 'SBC' system".
Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.

2 Remove right xenon headlamp Model 230 AR82.10-P-4730R
3 Unscrew pressure reservoir (1) from SBC hydraulic unit (A7/3) NOTES Before opening the SBC system, thoroughly clean the surrounding area of the separation point. Even minute particles of dirt, introduced into the hydraulic components, can result in malfunctions and a total failure of the SBC system.
NOTES Collect escaping brake fluid with a lint free, absorbent rag to prevent paint damage.
IMPORTANT In the process counterhold SBC hydraulic unit (A7/3) by hand.
IMPORTANT The thread in pressure reservoir (1) and SBC hydraulic unit (A7/3) must not be recut.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Apply brake fluid to the O-ring of the pressure reservoir (1).
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.46-P-1003-01A 
NOTES Brake fluid notes   AH42.50-P-0001-01A
REFER TO FORMS Notes on scrapping gas-filled hydraulic components   OS00.00-P-1000-01A
REFER TO FORMS Disposing on spring actuator   OS32.30-P-0620-01A
4 Install in the reverse order    
CLEAN Clean     
5 Use water to rinse off any escaped brake fluid.    
6 Bleed brake system with STAR DIAGNOSIS IMPORTANT When performing the bleeding operation, it is essential to observe the instructions in the document "Bleeding brake system using STAR DIAGNOSIS".
IMPORTANT The following steps should be run through in STAR DIAGNOSIS:
Select menu item "Initial startup after repair"/"Install new pressure reservoir for brake system".
Then process all the individual steps from top to bottom.
