Extend fiber optical cable ring for components to be retrofitted. - AN82.64-P-0001-05M

From the D2B wiring harness (10) ordered for retrofit, only the second D2B fiber optical cable module (8) of length 475 mm between D2B coupling (12) from sound amplifier and D2B coupling (14) from CD changer is needed. 

The D2B wiring harness (10) shown in the picture is designed for the maximum D2B ring.

The lengths of individual modules are listed on the model plate (B) on the D2B wiring harness (10) in the sequence of corresponding unit modules in the fiber optical cable ring.

1. Untie the D2B fiber optical cable module (8) with 475 mm length from the D2B wiring harness (10).
2. Detach retaining clips (11) on the D2B couplings (12) and (14) (arrow).
3. Remove D2B fiber optical cable module (8) out of the D2B couplings (12) and (14).
4. Remove D2B coupling (14) from D2B wiring harness (10).

   The residual part of the D2B wiring harness (10) is no longer required.

   D2B fiber optical cable module (8) with 475 mm length and the D2B coupling (14) are required for later extension of the D2B ring inside the vehicle.

5. Unscrew mounting screws (2) and nuts (16, 17) of the bracket, sound and TV (6).
6. Remove the bracket for sound and TV (6) with sound amplifier (A2/13) and TV tuner (A2/42) (for vehicles with TV tuner (code 860)) from the wheelhouse recess.
7. Detach D2B coupling (13) on sound amplifier (A2/13) and expose D2B fiber optical cable modules (7, 9) by approx. 300 mm.
8. Unlock D2B coupling (13) and remove D2B fiber optical cable module (9) with white insert and lay aside.
9. Put the white insert of the new D2B fiber optical cable module (8) with 475 mm length into the D2B coupling (13) and lock the D2B coupling (13) again.

   D2B fiber optical cable module (8) and D2B coupling (14) were previously removed from the D2B wiring harness (10).

10. Connect D2B coupling (13) again to sound amplifier (A2/13).

11. Put the red insert of the D2B fiber optical cable module (8) and the white insert of the D2B fiber optical cable module (9) into the new D2B coupling (14) and lock it again.

    D2B coupling (14) was previously removed from the D2B wiring harness (10).

    D2B coupling (14) will later be connected to the CD player with changer (inside trunk) (A2/6), (pictures with CD player serve better understanding).

12. Fasten D2B lines with felt masking tape (arrows).
13. Fix new tie straps (15).

    Do not buckle or extend D2B fiber optical cable, routing radii must be greater than 25 mm!

    The information flows from white to red. The light beam must always enter into the white insert in the fiber optical cable and exit from the red insert (inserts are coded). 

    The inserts cannot be separately changed! As soon as an insert is removed from a fiber optical cable module, the module should be exchanged. 

    Bracket for sound and TV is later installed and fastened inside the wheelhouse recess when installing the CD player with changer (inside trunk) (A2/6).
