Replace rubber mounts of rear shock absorbers - AR32.25-P-1871M

MODEL 215 

MODEL 220 except CODE (Z07) Top protection except CODE (Z04) Light armoring

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
NOTES Replace self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
NOTES Special information on AIRmatic   AH32.22-P-1000-02I 
IMPORTANT General information Replacement of the rubber mounts (2) on the rear shock absorbers in pairs is not inevitable.  
1.1 Empty suspension strut (4) of rear axle using STAR DIAGNOSIS Model 220 except CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC)  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
2 Remove rear wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050Z
3 Remove spring control arm (1) IMPORTANT Unhook exhaust system on both rear exhaust-rubber mounts.  
    Model 215, 220 with CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC) AR35.20-P-0114N

4 Remove rubber mounts (2) using SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool (01) SPECIAL TOOL Fig 3
5 Clean and check bearing seat (3)    
INSTALLING Install     
6 Install rubber mounts (2) using SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool (01) NOTES Do not squeeze plastic parts (large arrow) of the rubber mount (2). Cracked plastic parts result in corrosion and thus to damage to the rubber mount(2).

7 Check installation position of the rubber mount (2) IMPORTANT Carry out visual inspection of distances (small arrows) from outer bearing shell collar (2b) to the bearing seat edge (3k). In the event of unequal distances (small arrows) correct the installation position using the SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool (01).

8 Install spring link (1) IMPORTANT Unhook exhaust system on both rear exhaust-rubber mounts.

9 Remount the rear wheel    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050Z
10.1 Fill the suspension strut (4) using STAR DIAGNOSIS Model 220 except CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC)
NOTES The wheels must not touch the ground while pressurizing because the air bellows in the suspension strut (4) will be destroyed if pressurized with the suspension compressed.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
11.1 Check AIRmatic for leaks. Model 220 except CODE (487) Active Body Control (ABC) AR32.22-P-8100I
