Remove/install left trailer hitch longitudinal member - AR31.30-P-0005M

REMOVING Remove

DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
1 Disconnect ground cable from battery NOTES Insulate ground line as a protection against unintentional contact of detached ground line with ground point of battery. AR54.10-P-0003I

2.1 Remove CD changer Vehicles with 6-disk CD changer in luggage compartment
IMPORTANT Do not remove CD changer from the bracket, remove CD changer complete with bracket and place to the side.

3.1 Remove audio power amplifier Model 215, 220 with sound system code 810
IMPORTANT Do not detach electrical couplings. Do not remove sound amplifier from bracket, remove sound amplifier complete with bracket and place to the side.

4.1 Remove TV tuner Vehicles with TV tuner code 860 up to model year 2003 code 803
IMPORTANT Do not detach electrical couplings.
IMPORTANT Do not remove TV tuner from bracket, remove TV tuner complete with bracket and place to the side.
 
5 Remove trailer hitch crossmember (2) Model 220 AR31.30-P-0007M 
    Model 215 AR31.30-P-0007N 
6 Remove exhaust system as of flange connection Engine in model 215, 220 AR49.10-P-7280M
    Engine 112, 113, 613, 628, 648, 137, refer to: ↓
Remove complete exhaust system:
 
    Engine 112, 113 AR49.10-P-7000AA
    Engine 613 AR49.10-P-7000M
    Engine 628 AR49.10-P-7000MB
    Engine 648 AR49.10-P-7000MZ
    Engine 137 AR49.10-P-7000L
7 Remove shield above rear muffler IMPORTANT Only remove left shield.  
8 Unscrew collar nuts (10) from left trailer hitch longitudinal member (6) in luggage compartment    
9 Remove left counter tab (8) from left vehicle longitudinal member    
10 Pull left trailer hitch longitudinal member (6) backwards out of left vehicle longitudinal member with sealing wedge (5)    
INSTALLING Install     
11 Push left trailer hitch longitudinal member (6) into left vehicle longitudinal member with sealing wedge (5) IMPORTANT Ensure sealing wedge (5) is seated correctly.  
12 Insert left counter tab (8) into left vehicle longitudinal member    
13 Screw on collar nuts (10) IMPORTANT Install new collar nuts (10). Do not tighten collar nuts (10) yet.   
14 Install crossmember for trailer hitch (2) IMPORTANT When installing longitudinal members, trailer hitch crossmember (2) must be centered using two alignment punches (see enlarged view).

    Model 215 AR31.30-P-0007N 
15 Tighten collar nuts (10) of left trailer hitch longitudinal member (6) to torque TORQUE SPECIFICATION Collar nut, longitudinal member reinforcement to longitudinal frame member *BA31.11-P-1003-01A 
16 Install in the reverse order IMPORTANT Work step 7 to 1, except work step 5  
17 Conduct function check on mechanical swing-away trailer hitch   AR31.19-P-1450M
