Remove/install rear bumper - AR88.20-P-2200MA

MODEL 220 with CODE (550) Trailer hitch except CODE (772) AMG styling package - front spoiler, side skirts and rear apron trailer hitch with removable ball neck

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove trunk lining IMPORTANT Rear wall paneling can remain in vehicle.  
    Model 220.0/1. AR68.30-P-4600M
    Model 220.8. AR68.30-P-4600MP
2.1 Disconnect emergency call system (TELEAID) replacement antenna connector (X23/17) IMPORTANT Only on TELE AID emergency call system (D2B) (code 347) or with TELE AID (code 855).  
3.1 Disconnect PTS connector, rear bumper (X35/28) IMPORTANT Only on Parktronic system (PTS) (code 220a).  
4 Unscrew bolts (10). IMPORTANT On left and right.  
5 Remove nuts (8). IMPORTANT On left and right.  
6 Unscrew bolt (15) IMPORTANT On left and right.  
7 Remove covers (7) and loosen nuts (6) 2 to 3 turns IMPORTANT On left and right.  
8 Completely remove bumper (1) with bumper carrier (2) NOTES Slightly pull bumper ends downward and move catch hooks (14) toward outside. Have second person help.  
9 Unscrew bolts (3) and remove bumper bracket (2) from bumper (1)    
INSTALLING Install     
10 Fit bumper bracket (2) in bumper (1) and screw in bolts (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, bumper to bumper reinforcement *BA31.11-P-1004-01A 
11 Install bumper (1), slide mount (1a) on left and right into guides (11) NOTES Slightly pull bumper ends downward and hook in catch hooks (14). Have second person help.  
12 Adjust bumper (1) in longitudinal direction IMPORTANT Slide bumper (1) onto collar bolts (5) until edge of bumper (13) is flush with edge of rear fender  
13 Adjust height of bumper (1) IMPORTANT The height of the bumper (1) can be adjusted by turning the collar bolt (5)  
14 Tighten nuts (6) and fit covers (7) IMPORTANT On left and right.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, bumper reinforcement to trailer hitch. *BA31.11-P-1005-01A 
15 Screw on nuts (8) IMPORTANT On left and right.  
16 Screw in bolts (10) IMPORTANT On left and right.  
17 Screw in bolt (15) NOTES Ensure that catch hooks (14) are seated properly at inner edge on rear fender (12)
IMPORTANT On left and right.
 
18.1 Insert emergency call system (TELEAID) replacement antenna connector (X23/17) IMPORTANT Only on TELE AID emergency call system (D2B) (code 347) or with TELE AID (code 855).  
19.1 Connect PTS connector, rear bumper (X35/28) IMPORTANT Only on Parktronic system (PTS) (code 220a).  
20 Install trunk lining Model 220.0/1. AR68.30-P-4600M
