MODEL 203, 209.3/ 4
In the present description only the antenna system for audio, TV, telephone, navigation and emergency call system is described.
We differentiate between passive and active antennae:
- Passive antennae do not require a voltage supply, they can therefore not directly amplify the radio signal received. For example, all antennas in the rear window and windshield.
- Active antennae are supplied with voltage. They have an integrated amplifier.
For example, the telephone antenna (A2/22) (model 203, model 209.4, model 209.3 up to 31.5.06), telephone antenna (A2/49a1) (model 209.3 as of 1.6.06), GPS antenna (A2/23) (model 203, model 209.4, model 209.3 up to 31.5.06) or GPS antenna (A2/49a2) (model 209.3 as of 1.6.06).
Power can be supplied via separate leads or via the coaxial leads which serve simultaneously for signal transmission (so-called phantom feed). In this case, no separate leads are required for the power supply.
A further difference between the antennas is that some antennas serve only for reception while others serve for reception as well as transmission.
Examples:
Reception only:
- GPS antenna (A2/23) or GPS antenna (A2/49a2)
Transmission and reception:
- Telephone antenna (A2/22) or telephone antenna (A2/49a1)
On model 203.2 the antennas are distributed between the rear window and the two rear side windows.
On model 209.4 the antennas are accommodated in the trunk lid and in the windshield.
TV tuner (on model 209 with code (860) TV tuner)
The red-green-blue signals determine the depiction of the color image on the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). They are transmitted by the TV tuner (A2/42) via a separate line. All the other control, audio and video data are transmitted via the "Robert Bosch CAN". The "Robert Bosch CAN" is used specifically in the TV/video area.
Stationary heater (STH) (for code (228) Stationary heater)
The STH is controlled by radio by also using the telephone antenna (A2/22) or the telephone antenna (A2/49a1).
The telephone radio signals and remote control radio signals are separated by the telephone/STH radio remote control antenna splitter (A2/53) for model 209 or telephone/portable CTEL/STH radio remote control antenna splitter (A2/53) for model 203.
Central locking (CL [ZV])
The signals received for the CL [ZV] are received with the corresponding antenna, amplified by the amplifier module 1, window antenna (A2/71) and relayed to the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73). The signals are coded for the CAN message and placed on the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B).
