Removal & Installation
NOTE:
Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels.
- Remove parking brake shoes. See PARKING BRAKE SHOES .
- Remove return spring (94). See Fig 1 .
- Loosen adjusting screw (89).
- Remove front brake cable (85) from intermediate lever (91).
- Remove brake cables (86) from equalizer (92).
- Remove brake cables from frame floor with snap-release tool (043) or by breaking clamping ring (84).
- Remove self-locking bolt (98) on wheel carrier.
- Remove brake control cable.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Replace self-locking bolts. If clamping ring was broken, insert new clamping ring in groove on brake cable. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Adjust parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE under ADJUSTMENTS.
