Wake-up
The MOST ring can be activated by either turning the transmitter key (A1/8) to the "Circuit 15R ON" position (provided that the system was not switched off before removing the transmitter key (A1/8)) or via the "ON" button of the radio (A2) or the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). The audio gateway control unit (N93/1) then transmits a wake-up signal to all components. After the MOST ring has been activated by a wake-up call, the components reply via the MOST ring. In order to do this, the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) transmits a light signal via the MOST ring. If a component fails to react, it can also be awakened optically .
This means that a defective wake-up line does not cause the MOST ring to fail. If the MOST ring has been interrupted and the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) does not receive a response within a certain time, the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) makes several wake-up attempts.
If a telephone call is received and the transmitter key (A1/8) is inserted, the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1) transmits a message via the MOST ring to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) to activate the speaker system for voice output.
Wake-up diagnosis
The diagnostic wake-up can only be actuated when the optical ring cannot be activated due to an error.
In order to do this, the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) receives a request from STAR DIAGNOSIS to transmit a diagnosis wake-up to the components. This signal differs from the wake-up signal on account of its distinctly greater duration. The components react in sequence by transmitting a signal on the wake-up line.
If a component fails to react, the audio gateway control unit (N93/1) and therefore also STAR DIAGNOSIS is aware that this component could not be awakened. This means that only the wake-up line to the component needs to be checked, and if necessary the component itself and its voltage supply.
If all components reply to the audio gateway control unit (N93/1), their voltage supplies are correct.
