Turn signal/hazard warning flashers, function - GF82.25-P-0002R: Notes

MODEL 230

Turn signals, function

  1. Basic prerequisite:
    • Ignition on (terminal 15)
  2. The combination switch lever (S4) is set to "Left turn"  or "Right turn"  position.
  3. The steering column module (N80) detects when the combination switch is in the turn signal position and sends the signal "Left turn signal"  or "Right turn signal" via the passenger compartment CAN bus  to the corresponding control modules for actuation of the turn signal lamps.
  1. 4.1 Left turn:
    • The driver-side SAM control module (N10/10) actuates the turn signal lamp (E1e5) in the left headlamp unit.
    • The left door control module (N69/1) actuates the turn signal lamp in the left outside rearview mirror (E6/5).
    • The rear SAM control module (N10/8) actuates the turn signal lamp (E3e1) in the left taillamp.
  2. 4.2 Right turn:
    • The passenger-side SAM control module (N10/11) actuates the turn signal lamp (E2e5) in the right headlamp unit.
    • The right door control module (N69/2) actuates the turn signal lamp in the right outside rearview mirror (E6/6).
    • The rear SAM control module (N10/8) actuates the turn signal lamp (E4e1) in the right taillamp.
  3. The instrument cluster (A1) indicates the turn signal operation optically and acoustically by actuating the left turn signal or right turn signal indicator lamp (A1e1 or A1e2) and the audible turn signal indicator (A1h2).

IMPORTANT The turn signal is switched off when the combination switch automatically returns to the non-actuated position when the steering wheel is moved in the opposite direction or when it is returned manually.

Hazard warning flashers, function

  1. The hazard warning flasher switch (S6/5s1) is actuated and indicates this by flashing.
  2. The lower control panel control module (N72) recognizes the switch position of the hazard warning flasher switch and sends the signal "Hazard warning flasher ON"  to the steering column module (N80) via the passenger compartment CAN bus.
  3. The steering column module (N80) actuates the hazard warning signal and sends the signal "Left and right turn signals flashing"  to the appropriate control modules and to the instrument cluster via the passenger compartment CAN bus.
  4. Hazard warning flashing active:
    • The left front SAM control module (N10/10) actuates the left turn signal lamp (E1e5) and the right front SAM control module (N10/11) actuates the right turn signal lamp (E2e5) in the headlamp unit.
    • The left door control module (N69/1) and right door control module (N69/2) actuate the turn signal lamps in the left outside rearview mirror (E6/5) and right outside rearview mirror (E6/6).
    • The rear SAM control module (N10/8) actuates the turn signal lamps (E3e1 and E4e1) in the left and right taillamps.
    • The instrument cluster (A1) indicates the flashing operation optically and acoustically by actuating the left turn signal and right turn signal indicator lamps (A1e1 and A1e2) and the audible turn signal indicator (A1h2).
