Removal & Installation (S500 (2003-04 Model Year) & S600 (2003 Model Year) With Code (Z07) Top Protection)
NOTE:
Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
- Ensure ignition is in OFF position
- Reduce pressure in pressure reservoir (10) by pumping brake pedal approximately 30 times to brake stop. See Fig 1 .
- Remove brakelight switch. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH .
- Remove cover (3) covering upper portion of brake pedal assembly.
- Remove retainer (6) and bolt (5) from brake booster hydraulic unit rod and brake pedal assembly.
- Remove wiper arm. See WIPER ARMS .
- Suction off brake fluid from reservoir.
- Remove bracket (15) holding brake booster hydraulic unit (A7/6) to fire wall.
- Disconnect electrical connector (11) on top of reservoir.
- Place a shop towel under brake booster hydraulic unit and remove hoses (9) and cable (8) from reservoir. Collect seeping brake fluid in shop towel.
- Remove reservoir bolts (12).
- Pull reservoir out of brake booster hydraulic unit and remove.
- Remove brake lines (14) from brake booster hydraulic unit and cable (8) from charge plunger unit (7).
- Remove brake line (13) from brake booster hydraulic unit.
- Remove bolts (2) holding brake booster hydraulic unit to fire wall.
- Push hydraulic brake unit towards driver's side of vehicle and remove upwards.
- Installation is reverse of removal procedure. Tighten nuts and to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
