Telephone wiring harness connection plan 

  1. Detach antenna line (29) from telephone wiring harness (20).

    IMPORTANT Antenna lead (29) is no longer required

  2. Tie back and insulate red/black lead (rt/sw).

    IMPORTANT Not required.

  3. Route wiring harness (20) in wiring ducts and along existing leads in vehicle.

  4. Route branch-off line to handset transmitter and receiver connector (X39/5) to center tunnel as shown in figure.
  5. Route telephone wiring harness (20) in cable duct below right front passenger seat.
  6. Route brown lead with round cable lug from telephone wiring harness (20) to inner right rocker panel ground (W28/2, see magnification) and connect.
  7. Route telephone wiring harness (20) to rear fuse box installation position (F4) in right wiring duct in right rear seat area.

  8. Detach yellow, two-way fuse box (30) from rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).

    IMPORTANT Fuse box (30) is plugged into plug-in fuse slots 62 and 63. Only fuse 62 is occupied.

  9. Detach red/black lead (rt/sw) from yellow, two-way fuse box (30), insulate and tie back (no longer required).
  10. Insert red/black lead (rt/sw) of telephone wiring harness (20) into yellow, two-way fuse box (30).
  11. Re-attach yellow, two-way fuse box (30) to rear fuse and relay module (K40/5) as shown in illustration.

    IMPORTANT Plug fuse box (30) into plug-in fuse slots 62 and 63.

  12. Place 47-pin black connector (27) and 12-pin black connector (26) of telephone wiring harness (20) on floor of vehicle in area of rear fuse and relay module (K40/5).

    IMPORTANT Connectors (26, 27) are connected to telephone transmitter/receiver later.

    IMPORTANT The cables for the hands-free system microphone are already pre-installed in the wiring harness that has been routed to the overhead control panel.

  13. Route telephone wiring harness (20) along existing cables to rear shelf and fix in position.
  14. Pull out 28-pin, black overhead control panel and frame floor system connector (X25/8) from rear shelf and disconnect.
  15. Open connector housing.
  16. Remove black lead from cell 1, insulate and tie back (no longer required).
  17. Insert black lead (sw) branch-off line of wiring harness (20) into cell 1.
  18. Remove white lead from cell 15, insulate and tie back (no longer required).
  19. Insert white lead (ws) branch-off line of wiring harness (20) into cell 15.
  20. Re-assemble connector housing again and connect.

  21. Route antenna wiring harness along existing leads into the right of the trunk.
  1. 22.1 Vehicles without stationary heater (code 228) 
    • Remove existing antenna line from cellular telephone and GPS roof antenna connector (A2/49x1), insulate and tie back (no longer required).
    • Attach antenna line from telephone wiring harness (20) to cellular telephone and GPS roof antenna connector (A2/49x1).

  2. 22.2 Vehicles with stationary heater (code 228) 

    Attach antenna line of telephone wiring harness (20) to phone/CTEL/STH radio remote control antenna splitter (A2/53).

    IMPORTANT Connection is marked in black.

  3. 23 Solder blue/black lead (bl/sw) of telephone wiring harness (20) at left of driver's footwell to blue/black (bl/sw) lead of D2B/MOST wake-up signal connector sleeve (Z35/10) with solder connector.
  4. 24 Solder yellow/white lead (ge/ws) to yellow/white lead (ge/ws) of PIN 12 diagnostic socket connector sleeve (Z70/1) with solder connector.
  5. 25 Route black/yellow lead of telephone wiring harness (20) to left fuse box.

  6. 26 Unplug existing, white fuse box for fuse 18 (F1f18) from front fuse and relay module (K40/6), insulate and tie back (no longer required).
  7. 27 Attach new, white fuse box (32) of telephone wiring harness (20) to fuse 18 plug position.
