Brake Cable (Front, Except S430 4MATIC & S500 4MATIC): Installation

  1. Installation is reverse of removal procedure. Check that rubber ring (85c) is seated correctly on nipple. Loosen heat shield at transmission until brake cable can be threaded through. Install new retaining clips. Tighten nuts and bolts to specification. See Figure and TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Relieve load on automatic cable slack adjuster (92) by lifting center hold down clip (arrow) using a screwdriver so that cable slack adjuster sets itself automatically. See Figure . Check version of pedal assembly. See PEDAL ASSEMBLY VERSION  under PARKING BRAKE. Adjust parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENTS  under ADJUSTMENTS.
