Removal & Installation (S500 (2003-04 Model Year) & S600 (2003 Model Year) With Code (Z07) Top Protection)

NOTE: Letters and numbers in parenthesis correspond to letters and numbers in illustrations.
  1. Ensure ignition is in OFF position
  2. Reduce pressure in pressure reservoir (10) by pumping brake pedal approximately 30 times to brake stop. See Fig 1 .
  3. Remove brakelight switch. See BRAKELIGHT SWITCH  .
  4. Remove cover (3) covering upper portion of brake pedal assembly.
  5. Remove retainer (6) and bolt (5) from brake booster hydraulic unit rod and brake pedal assembly.
  6. Remove wiper arm. See WIPER ARMS  .
  7. Suction off brake fluid from reservoir.
  8. Remove bracket (15) holding brake booster hydraulic unit (A7/6) to fire wall.
  9. Disconnect electrical connector (11) on top of reservoir.
  10. Place a shop towel under brake booster hydraulic unit and remove hoses (9) and cable (8) from reservoir. Collect seeping brake fluid in shop towel.
  11. Remove reservoir bolts (12).
  12. Pull reservoir out of brake booster hydraulic unit and remove.
  13. Remove brake lines (14) from brake booster hydraulic unit and cable (8) from charge plunger unit (7).
  14. Remove brake line (13) from brake booster hydraulic unit.
  15. Remove bolts (2) holding brake booster hydraulic unit to fire wall.
  16. Push hydraulic brake unit towards driver's side of vehicle and remove upwards.
  17. Installation is reverse of removal procedure. Tighten nuts and to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  .
