Retrofit fiber optic cable wiring harness - AN82.70-P-0002-01NB

The order of subscribers of the existing D2B wiring harness before installation is as follows:

COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3).
Interface telephone (A34/4) for portable MB CTEL (Code 854),
or

D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) with standard MB telephone (code 853),

or

D2B telephone and TELE AID transmitter/receiver (A35/17) for TELE AID (code 855).
Voice control system control unit (A35/11) for voice control system (SBS) (code 813).

Subscriber sequence after installation (must be complied with):

COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3).
CD player with changer (in trunk) (A2/6)
Interface telephone (A34/4) for portable MB CTEL (Code 854),
or

D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) with standard MB telephone (code 853),

or

D2B telephone and TELE AID transmitter/receiver (A35/17) for TELE AID (code 855).
Voice control system control unit (A35/11) for voice control system (SBS) (code 813).

Insert D2B fiber optic cable wiring harness (10) into vehicle according to figure.
In vehicles without voice control system (VCS) (code 813) the D2B branch-off line telephone/VCS (2) will only receive the straight D2B coupling (13).

The D2B branch-off line telephone/VCS (2) has a yellow color coding and is shorter than the D2B branch-off line of the CD changer (1) with green color coding. Thus, they cannot be confused during routing.

The color coding at the D2B fiber optic cable wiring harness (10) has to match the existing color coding at the existing standard wiring harnesses.
Route slanted D2B coupling (11) of the D2B branch-off line Command (3) (short branch-off line) of the D2B fiber optic cable wiring harnesses (10), in the center left cable duct to the installation location Command.
Route D2B branch-off line of CD changer (1) with straight D2B coupling (12) (longest branch-off line) of the D2B fiber optic cable wiring harnesses (10), according to figure in the left cable duct and along existing lines, through the cable ducts of the seat cushion and the rear wall into the trunk.
Do not buckle or extend fiber optical cable D2B, routing radii have to be larger than 25 mm!

Route D2B branch-off line of the CD changer (1) with straight D2B coupling (12) along existing standard wiring harnesses to the left wheel house recess in the trunk.
D2B Mount branch-off line of the CD changer (1) to the standard wiring harnesses using adhesive felt tape.
Do not buckle or extend fiber optical cable D2B, routing radii have to be larger than 25 mm!

Disconnect the D2B fiber optic cable wiring harness that is installed between Command and control unit carrier (8) from the control units for telephone and SBS, wrap with adhesive felt tape and tie back.
The tied-back D2B wiring harness remains in the vehicle. It has to be ensured that the tied-back D2B fiber optic cable wiring harness does not cause any noise.
Route D2B branch-off line for telephone/VCS (2) with straight D2B coupling and slanted D2B coupling of the D2B fiber optic cable wiring harnesses (10) along the right cable duct to the control unit carrier (8).
In vehicles without voice control system (VCS) (code 813) the D2B branch-off line telephone/VCS (2) will only receive one straight D2B coupling. The D2B branch-off line for telephone/VCS (2) has a yellow color coding and is shorter than the D2B branch-off line of the CD changer (1), thus they cannot be confused during routing.

Mount branch-off line of telephone/VCS (2) to the standard wiring harnesses using adhesive felt tape.
Straight D2B coupling (13) in D2B telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) with standard MB telephone (code 853),
or

Connect D2B telephone and TELE AID transmitter/receiver (A35/17) for TELE AID (code 855).

The telephone interface (A34/4) (not shown in the picture) replaces the telephone transmitter/receiver (A35/13) with portable MB CTEL (code 854) D2B.

10.1 Plug in slanted D2B coupling (14) into the voice control system control unit (A35/11).
With voice control system (VCS) (code 813).
Mount D2B branch-off line telephone/VCS (2) to the standard wiring harnesses.
Do not kink or stretch D2B fiber optic cable.
Attach new tie straps (arrows).
Do not buckle or extend fiber optical cable D2B, routing radii have to be larger than 25 mm!
