When actuating, the anchor plate (a) is pulled by the solenoid (d) and the sealing rubber (f) closes the aeration. The connection between port 2 and port 3 is opened. So that the vacuum from the intake manifold is built up to the aspirator shutoff valve. In the de-energized state the connection between port 1 and port 3 is re-established and air is thus admitted to port 3.
