Remove/install wiper motor - AR82.30-P-6800GM

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities.  Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
1 Activate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/ 322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07

DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

3 Remove differential lock solenoid valve (longitudinal equalization) (Y68), differential lock solenoid valve (rear axle) (Y68/1) and differential lock solenoid valve (front axle) (Y68/2) from holder (1) and place to one side IMPORTANT Vacuum lines connectors can break easily.
IMPORTANT For all work on differential lock solenoid valve (longitudinal equalization) (Y68), differential lock solenoid valve (rear axle) (Y68/1) and differential lock solenoid valve (front axle) (Y68/2), electrical connectors and vacuum lines (if necessary) are to be identified before removal in such a manner as to avoid mix up.
 
DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A
4 Remove expansion reservoir (2) from mount (1) and lay down to side in vertical position NOTES Ensure that the brake fluid does not escape. Brake fluid running out leads to damage caused by corrosion and decomposition.  
5 Remove clutch from ATA [EDW] hood switch (S62)    
6 Unscrew mount (1) from mounting points (arrows)    
7 Remove fastener for ventilation lines from holder (1) and remove holder (1) IMPORTANT Slide ventilation lines below refrigerant line (4) and lay down to side.  
8 Remove wiper motor cap (3) from wiper motor (M6/1)    
9 Detach electrical connector from wiper motor (M6/1)    
10 Unscrew wiper motor (M6/1) at mounting points (arrows) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA82.30-P-1001-01B 
11 Pull wiper motor (M6/1) towards front and pry off of wiper crank (6) through firewall opening of wiper linkage (5) NOTES In doing so, do not bend the wiper linkage (5) or rotate it, otherwise it will be damaged.  
12 Completely remove wiper motor (M6/1)    
13 Install in the reverse order IMPORTANTInstallation:  Before attaching wiper arms, switch wiper system on and off again one time. Switch off ignition only after wiper motor has stopped.  
14 Deactivate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand IMPORTANT Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/ 322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid - car telephone emergency call system, 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07

15 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT STAR DIAGNOSIS
Stored faults which can result from cables being disconnected or from simulation during removal and installation or test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
INSPECT Checking     
16 Check wiper blade park position IMPORTANT In the park position the wiper blades should not obstruct the driver's field of view.  
17 Carry out function check    
18 Perform basic programming   AR00.19-P-0200P
