Bleed brake system - AR42.10-P-0010GX

DANGER Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  caused by brake fluid coming into contact with skin and eyes. Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

1 Suction off brake fluid from the brake fluid expansion reservoir (1)    
2 Connect the brake fluid changing unit to the brake fluid expansion reservoir (1) IMPORTANT Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.
Bleeding pressure, maximum of 2 bar. Brake fluid change unit with supply tank (10-20 l)
 
3 Remove wheels    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary AP40.10-P-4050G
4 Detach left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) and right front brake pad contact sensor (S10/2)    
5 Detach right rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/4)    
6 Detach retaining springs (4) on all four floating brake calipers    
7 Detach the protective caps (2, 3) of the guide pins on all four floating brake calipers    
8 Remove guide pins on all four floating brake calipers IMPORTANT Remove all the guide pins first so that the bleeding process can be carried out rapidly. Do not detach the floating brake calipers which are not yet bled from the floating caliper bracket.  
9 Tilt the floating brake caliper on the right of the rear axle into the bleeding position (A) IMPORTANT The floating brake caliper must be tilted until the bleed screw (6) is at the highest point and thus the air can escape can escape when bleeding.  
10 Fix the brake piston in the floating brake caliper in position using a wooden block (5) IMPORTANT The wooden block (5) is only required at the rear axle.  
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS Wooden block for holding back the brake piston WF58.50-P-4210-07A
11 Loosen bleed screw (6) and bleed floating brake caliper IMPORTANT To do this, remove dust boot and put on a suitable hose. Drain as much old brake fluid into a suitable container until clean new brake fluid escapes free of bubbles.  
12 Tighten bleed screw (6) and put on dust boot TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1001-17B 
13 Install floating brake caliper on the right of the rear axle and tighten guide pin TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1002-17B 
14 Carry out steps 9 to 13 on the left of the rear axle    
15 Tilt the floating brake caliper on the right of the front axle into the bleeding position (B) IMPORTANT The floating brake caliper must be tilted until the bleed screw (7) is at the highest point and thus the air can escape can escape when bleeding.  
16 Loosen bleed screw (7) and bleed floating brake caliper IMPORTANT To do this, remove dust boot and put a on suitable hose. Drain as much old brake fluid into a suitable container until clean new brake fluid escapes free of bubbles.  
17 Tighten bleed screw (7) and put on dust boot TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1001-03G 
 
18 Install floating brake caliper on the right of the front axle and tighten guide pin TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA42.10-P-1002-03G 
19 Carry out steps 15 to 17 on the left of the front axle    
20 Install retaining springs (4) on all four floating brake calipers    
21 Install protective caps (2, 3)    
22 Install left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) and right front brake pad contact sensor (S10/2)    
23 Install right rear brake pad contact sensor (S10/4)    
24 Fit wheels    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary AP40.10-P-4050G
25 Detach brake fluid changing unit from brake fluid expansion reservoir (1) IMPORTANT Pay attention to manufacturer's operating instructions.  
26 Correct the brake fluid level in a brake fluid expansion reservoir (1)    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Hydraulic brake system - check and correct fluid level AP42.50-P-4210G
