REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Activate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid car telephone emergency call system, model 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR
IMPORTANT Notes regarding the Tele-Aid emergency call system   AH82.95-P-0001-01GA
2 Remove luggage compartment cover with draft stop (A) Only on model 463.202/250/254/306/309
IMPORTANT Three draw buttons per side.
 
3 Remove draft stop mounting bracket (B) from quarter panel Only on model 463.202/250/254/306/309
IMPORTANT Remove only at left-hand side.
 
4 Remove stowage box Only on model 463.222/244/247/322/332/336// 340 with code (V53) Stowage box and luggage compartment cover AR68.72-P-0010GK
5 Remove CD changer cover (1) Only on model 463.243/244/245/247/249/ 250/254/309/322/323/332/333 with code (EP5) CD changer,
Model 463.303/340/341 up to 31.8.08 with code (EP5) CD changer
Model 463.248 except code (979) Special protection version
 
6 Unscrew tie-down eye (2)    
7 Remove floor covering (3) from cover panel (4) IMPORTANT The floor covering (3) is glued to the cover panel (4). When removing, slightly lift side wall lining in rear area.  
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Align floor covering (3) before gluing in. *BR00.45-Z-1002-02A 
8 Remove cover panel (4) IMPORTANT Remove two bolts  
9 Remove CD changer (A2/6) Only on model 463.243/244/245/247/249/ 250/254/309/322/323/332/333 with code (EP5) CD changer,
Model 463.303/340/341 up to 31.8.08 with code (EP5) CD changer
Model 463.248 except code (979) Special protection version
AR82.64-P-7508GR
10.1 Disconnect connector for electrical lines (5) from bumper in interior compartment On vehicles without ultrasonic backup assist  
10.2 Disconnect connector (X26/26) on backup assist control unit (N62) On vehicles with code (J44) Ultrasonic backup assist  
11 Disconnect bolted connection (6) from antenna cable    
12 Pull electrical line and antenna cable toward outside through body IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace damaged brittle rubber grommets (7). Moisten rubber grommets (7) with lubricant. *BR00.45-Z-1032-06A 
13 Remove water shield (8) IMPORTANT On both sides AR61.30-P-0010A
14 Unscrew bumper corners (9) from fender extensions IMPORTANT Remove screw (10) on both sides  
15 Unscrew bumper corners (9) from strut (11) IMPORTANT On both sides  
16 Disconnect connector (12) from backup lamp (E7)    
17 Disconnect connector from rear fog lamp (E3/1)    
18 Remove left (E19/1) and right (E19/2) license plate lamps IMPORTANT Remove electric cables from bumper.  
19 Remove bolts (13) from bumper bracket IMPORTANT Use aid of helper.
Four screws each on left and right.
On model 463.237 the inner bumper brackets are installed on the rear underride guard.
 
20 Remove bumper    
21 Install in the reverse order    
22 Deactivate service mode in Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand Only on model 463.243/244/245/250/309/322/323/332/333 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid car telephone emergency call system, model 463.247/248/254/270 up to 1.4.07 with code (ET2) Tele-Aid car telephone emergency call system AR82.95-P-0005-03GR
IMPORTANT Notes regarding the Tele-Aid emergency call system   AH82.95-P-0001-01GA
23 Read out fault memory and erase IMPORTANT Stored faults which may be caused by removed cables or by a simulation, must be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work.  
Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory AD00.00-P-2000-04A
24 Check backup assist sensors, rear fog lamp (E3/1), backup lamp (E7), left license plate lamp (E19/1) and right license plate lamp (E19/2) for proper function
