Arrangement
The exhaust back pressure sensor is located at the rear on the exhaust gas recirculation cooler below the left exhaust gas recirculation positioner (Y27/9).
Task
The exhaust back pressure sensor determines the exhaust back pressure upstream of the turbocharger. This information serves the CDI control unit (N3/9) to allows monitoring of the DPF fill level and the turbocharger and engine protection.
Function
The exhaust back pressure deforms a membrane which operates on a potentiometer. This alters the resistance value of the potentiometer and influences the signal voltage, which is used as information regarding the exhaust gas back pressure for the CDI control unit.
