Notes on D2B ring - AH82.70-P-0001-03MN

In this case the participating components in the D2B ring are the following: 

• COMAND operating, display and control module (A40/3).
• Sound amplifier (A2/13) for sound system (code 810).
• CD player with changer (in the trunk) (A2/6) for CD changer (6-disk) (code 819).
• Telephone interface (A34/4) for portable MB CTEL (code 854).

  or 

  D2B telephone transmitter/receiver  (A35/13) for standard MB telephone (code 853).

  D2B telephone and TELE AID transmitter/receiver (A35/17) for TELE AID (code 855).

• Voice control system control unit (A35/11) for voice control system (VCS) (code 813).

The information in the D2B ring flows in only one direction (arrows). The information enters the white insert (ws) in optical fiber modules M1 to M5 and reappears at the red insert (rt) at the next ring component.

The D2B ring can only operate as a closed circuit. 

1. Before the D2B ring can be expanded it is first necessary to determine the current vehicle configuration
2. Determine and record current vehicle configuration.
3. Detection of the vehicle's special equipment, shown on model 220.

• Sound amplifier (A2/13) for sound system (code 810). 

  Open access door in left trunk lining.

• CD player with changer (in the trunk) (A2/6) for CD changer (6disk) (code 819). 

  Open access flap in left trunk lining.

• Telephone (fixed installation or portable CTEL) 

  Open stowage compartment in the armrest.

• Voice control system 

  Turn on telephone, operate voice control system switch (S93/2) at the jacket tube, whistling sound will be heard, voice control system exists.

  Configuration with maximum equipment. 

  It simultaneously corresponds to the ring order and the direction of the information flow (from 1 to 7) and is to be observed in case of retrofitting. 

  1. COMAND head unit (HU)
  2. Sound amplifier (SA)
  3. CD player with changer (SA)
  4. Telephone (fixed installation or portable CTEL) or  TELE AID (SA)
  5. Voice control system (SA)
  6. Optional portable CTEL (SA for standard MB telephone)
  7. COMAND head unit (HU)

  If special equipment (SA) is omitted, the respective item is deleted, resulting in a new sequence.

• TELE AID emergency call system 

  SOS pushbutton switch (S93/3) exists.

• Optional portable CTEL 

  Open glove compartment.
