Brake Operating Unit (BOU) Expansion Reservoir: Installation
- Install expansion reservoir on BOU. When mounting the reservoir, the gaskets have no collar and can be pressed out of the BOU during assembly of the reservoir. Mount reservoir vertically on BOU and at the same time push in front and rear gasket.
- Screw in bolt of reservoir and torque to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect hydraulic line (4) to reservoir in vehicles with transmission 716 and torque to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect hydraulic line (3a and 3b) to reservoir and torque to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Fill reservoir with brake fluid up to 10 mm below upper edge of filler neck. Pour in brake fluid by hand. The reservoir must be filled correctly, as the overflows to individual chambers are located right at the top on reservoir upper shell.
- Connect electrical plug (5) to brake fluid indicator switch (S11).
- Squeeze hydraulic line (3b) on SBC hydraulic unit (A7/3) approximately 5 times so that any air escapes from hydraulic line.
- Correct fill level of brake fluid in reservoir up to previously applied marking.
- Ensure brake fluid is not leaking from connection points of brake lines (3b and 4). Connect brake bleeding unit following directions in operating manual supplied by manufacturer, and set pressure to 36-44 psi (2.5-3.0 bar) for 10 minutes. See Figure . Check hydraulic lines (3b and 4) for leaks at connection points with a paper towel. The smallest droplets are an indication of leakage and may lead to brake system malfunctions.
