4	Checked signal or status	The signals from the wheel speed sensors are filtered in the ESP control unit, processed into a vehicle speed signal and transmitted via the CAN. The speed signals from all the wheel speed signals are checked for plausibility by comparisons and if there are faults substitute values are formed wherever possible.
